KOHAT, Oct 15: The councillors alliance, denouncing the behaviour of the bureaucracy which had not accepted the new setup of local governance, announced to organize themselves to solve the problems of the people in an effective manner and carry out development programmes according to their wishes.

A meeting of the councillors’ alliance held at the KDA Town Hall also asked the Zila Nazim to issue them special cards so that they could visit government offices and discuss with them problems of their respective areas.

They also demanded that the various supervisory committees formed for the welfare of the people should be reorganized and all union council members should be given representation in them. They said that a select group of councillors had been unfairly made members and heads of these committees. They alleged that before the elections of District Nazim they were assured of cooperation but the post-election scenario was totally different.

They unanimously decided to form a Shoora (assembly of councillors) which would have two members from each union council to make them heard at the official level and have a say in the decisions made by the District Nazim, regarding appointments, transfers, approval of development schemes.
