Six caught stealing phone machinery

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Aug 12: Police claimed to have nabbed six dacoits who were allegedly stealing Rs1.5 million Helan telephone exchange machinery on Thursday night.

After the thefts at Bhikhi and Wara Alam Shah telephone exchanges in the area it was third such incident.

The PTCL authorities informed Phalia police the Helan telephone exchange link had got disconnected due to unknown fault. Sub-inspector Ijaz Ahmed, leading a mobile squad, rushed to the spot and held the accused, Nazir Ahmed, Waseem, Abid, Kamran Khokhar, Ashfaq and Zaheer, who were stealing the machinery.

Police claimed some PTCL employees were involved in the thefts. — Correspondent
