Security tightened for elections

QUETTA, Aug 12: The Balochistan government has decided to take additional security measures to ensure peaceful local bodies elections. Chief Minister Jam Yousuf presided over a meeting held here on Thursday to discuss the law and order situations during the polls. The meeting was attended by provincial Home Minister Mir Nausherwani, provincial chief secretary and heads of police and other security agencies.

It was decided that army could be deployed at sensitive areas to ensure peaceful environment.

Earlier, speaking at the meeting, Mr Yousuf asked the officials to improve their performance and utilize public funds in a better way so that common man could benefit from them. He said that during his visit of different areas he observed that people were not satisfied with the performance of government.

Mr Yousuf said due to poor planning many public projects were in doldrums. He directed the provincial inspection team to visit the ongoing development schemes and submit him a report about their progress.

The chief minister also took strong notice of the illegal grabbing of land by the usurpers and directed the law-enforcement agencies to take action against the land-mafia.
