HYDERABAD, Aug 5: Sindh University vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has called upon scholars of the university to conceive new ideas for incorporation and modification of rules and regulations for research.

He was presiding over a meeting of the advanced studies and research board of the university here on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by deans of all faculties, heads of various institutes and departments and senior professors of various disciplines.

He said for incorporation or any amendment in the rules which might help research, proposals should be submitted which would be placed before the forum concerned as working paper for discussion and approval. The board while approving minutes of the last meeting suggested many important changes for the modification of rules especially in the topics for MPhil research programme in various disciplines.

The meeting approved the topics for MPhil research programme of 22 candidates and names of the supervisors.

Among 22 candidates, seven candidates applied for MPhil in analytical chemistry discipline, one for MPhil in Urdu, three candidates for MPhil in computer sciences, two for biochemistry, three candidates for MPhil in physics and remaining candidates in various disciplines of natural sciences, social sciences and education.

The meeting approved the name of Dr Khushnood Ahmed Siddiqui an eminent scholar as co-guide to research scholars for their research work.

The meeting appreciated the progress of the committee for formulation of policy for the award of fellowship to teachers of affiliated colleges of the university enrolled for MPhil and PhD studies in various disciplines.

The meeting was attended by Dr Kazi Khadim Hussain, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr Anwar Ali Shah, Dr Mohammad Yar Khuhawar, Dr Abdul Sattar Ansari, Dr Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Dr Lutfullah Mangi, Dr Abida Tahrani, Dr Saeed Wagan and Dr Saeed Ahmed Soomro.

DATE EXTENDED: The director of admissions of the University of Sindh has extended date up to Aug 15 for obtaining as well as submission of admission forms for admissions to BHPEd and MHPEd programme at the centre for health and physical education.
