HYDERABAD, July 23: Police registered cases against Awam Dost Panel candidates for seats of nazims and naib nazims of different union councils in the Chambar taluka, Tando Allahyar district, under the Zina Hudood Ordinance and on water theft charges on Friday. According to Tando Allahyar PPP leader Abdul Sattar Bachani, a case was registered against Aslam Meerani, a candidate for the seat of nazim of the Dad Jarwar Union Council, and his supporter, Ahmad Khan Bozdar, under the Zina Hudood Ordinance on a complaint of Sharif Leghari for allegedly kidnapping his wife on July 21.

Mr Bachani said Yaqoob Bozdar, Zulfikar Leghari, a candidate for the seat of naib nazim of the Chambar Union Council-2, and Jaffar Jalbani, a candidate for the seat of nazim of the Chambar Union Council-2, were booked for water theft.

He said the accused in the water theft case had been granted bail but the Mukhtiarkar concerned was not issuing them solvency certificates for submitting surety.

He termed it victimization of ADP candidates by Pakistan Muslim League-F MPA Dr Irfan Gul Magsi. He alleged that the Magsis wanted to pressure the ADP candidates so that they could win the seats unopposed.

When contacted, Dr Magsi rejected the allegations and called for a judicial inquiry into the matter. He said according to his knowledge, a police constable was also involved in the case and police must investigate this. He said the incident had taken place on July 21 when nomination papers had already been filed by the ADP candidates so the question of winning the seats unopposed did not arise.

spsc: The controller of examinations of the Sindh Public Service Commission has announced names of successful candidates interviewed by the commission for the posts of assistant professor Islamic Studies (men) BPS-18, assistant professor Microbiology (men) BPS-18 and assistant professors Sindhi (men and women) BPS-18 in the education and literacy department.
