LARKANA, June 21: Five of a family, two of them brothers, were shot dead and four others injured in Hakim Sultan Magsi village near Mirokhan town on Tuesday. The alleged killer, Mehrab Magsi, had objected over desilting of a watercourse which irrigated lands of the villagers.

He along with sons -– Nadir Magsi, Shabir and Abbas Magsi — opened fire on them killing Nazal Magsi, Ghulam Hussain, Imdad Hussain and Zulfikar Magsi on the spot.

After hearing gun shots, relatives of the deceased carrying Holy Quran rushed to the spot for help and to get the firing stopped.

But the alleged killers fired at them and killed Panjal Magsi and injured Ms Sughra, Ms Mehtan, Ghulam Hussain and Ghulam Nabi.

The assailants ransacked the houses of the deceased and took away a motorcycle, a licensed gun, gold and cash.

The family of Mehrab Magsi vacated the village and escaped to unknown destination.

The injured were admitted to the Mirokhan Taluka Hospital and CMCH Larkana.

There was a wave of shock in the area.

Larkana DPO Dr Saeen Rakhiyo Mirani arrived at the scene and ordered the police to arrest the killers.

After autopsy the dead bodies were handed over to their relatives.
