Rockets fired on Kohlu, Turbat

QUETTA, May 28: Kohlu was rocked when unknown men fired five rockets at the township on Saturday night. “Rockets exploded on the outskirts of Kohlu town causing no casualty,” an official said. Sources said the rockets fired from nearby mountains with brief intervals exploded in open places but windowpanes of some government offices and houses were smashed.

Frontier Corps personnel deployed in the area returned fire. They targeted the positions of the attackers and an exchange of fire continued for some time. The assailants escaped in the mountains.

According to a late-night report, some miscreants hurled a hand-grenade in the bungalow of a former Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Munawar Ahmed Mirza on Zarghoon Road in Quetta on Saturday night.

The grenade exploded in the servant quarter, resulting in damage to its doors and windows. No-one was injured in the attack, police said. Earlier, three powerful explosions occurred in Sariab Road area of the provincial capital on Friday night.

Reports coming from Turbat said that some unknown people fired at least six rockets which targeted posts of Makran Scouts, a wing of Frontier Corps, in the Mand area close to Pakistan-Iran border. The personnel of the Makran Scouts returned fire. No casualty was reported in the duel.

Moreover, a powerful explosion rocked the Much town, some 80km from Quetta, on Saturday night, police said. Some unknown saboteurs had planted a locally-made bomb at the base of Railway police station’s boundary wall which exploded with a big bang. The wall suffered damage but no loss of life was reported.
