KARACHI, May 5: Boundaries of the newly-established districts of Hyderabad, Tando Mohammed Khan, Tando Allahyar and Matiari, as carved out of the formerly Hyderabad District, as well as new talukas, came under consideration at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Arbab here on Thursday.

Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, Sindh, Syed Anwar Hyder gave a detailed briefing in this regard.

He was informed that the new Hyderabad district comprises four talukas — Hyderabad City, Hyderabad Taluka, Latifabad and Qasimabad. The district has a population of 1.4948 million and is spread over 247,280 acres. However, no change has been brought about in the boundaries of a taluka, tappa or deh with regard to revenues.

The new district of Tando Mohammed Khan now comprises talukas of T. M. Khan, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Ghulam Haider. Taluka Bulri Shah Karim has been carved out of Taluka T. M. Khan and does not have an area of any other taluka.

The new District of Tando Allahyar comprises Taluka Tando Allahyar and two newly-established talukas of Chambar and Jhando Mari. The district has been carved out of Taluka Tando Allahyar whereas UC Nasarpur comprising four dehs has been included in Taluka Matiari as Nasarpur is close to Matiari Town.

Taluka Jhando Mari too has been carved out of the old Taluka Tando Allahyar. Piru Lound is the headquarter of this taluka. The New Matiari District has a population of 518,689 souls and is spread over 338,717 acres. It comprises talukas of Matiari, Hala and Saeedabad.

Details were also given about Taluka Digri and the new Taluka of Jhuddo which has been carved out of Taluka Digri.

The chief minister told the meeting that the government’s decision about the whole exercise was aimed at providing relief to people. The new arrangements would not only help accelerate development process, but also enable the local population to get all basic facilities and improve quality of their life.—APP
