KARACHI: Road ruined by sewage

Published August 19, 2003

KARACHI, Aug 18: The overflowing sewage has badly damaged the recently-carpeted main road of Block-L, North Nazimabad.

The dirty water gushing from a manhole adjacent to the Taimuria Library is not only emitting a foul smell in the whole locality, but has also developed potholes in roads. For the last six days, the sewage has gradually been spreading farther and taking more toll of the road.

Residents are perturbed also because of an underground electricity cable running through the water.

When contacted, Town Nazim Fasihuddin Siddiqui told Dawn that he had desperately been trying to persuade KWSB officials to help solve the problem. He said as the KWSB was not under the control of the city government, he was unable to get the problem fixed.
