Demo against government

LAHORE, Aug 3: The Tanzeem-i-Islami held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Sunday to protest against government’s consent to send troops to Iraq.

Speaking to the demonstrators, Tanzeem amir Hafiz Akif Saeed said giving in to US pressure on the issue would amount to hurting national interests and betraying the Ummat.

He said the nation would never accept any clandestine deal between the ‘murderer’ of Muslims and ‘enemy’ of Islam, US president George Bush and Gen Pervez Musharraf.

He said US occupation of Iraq was a grave violation of international laws and was a display of the rule of ‘might is right.’

America had become an international terrorist and enemy of Muslims and endorsing its acts would amount to betraying Islam and Muslims, he argued.

He urged Gen Musharraf not to tag Pakistan army as killers of Muslims by sending troops to Iraq.
