HYDERABAD, July 24: It rained throughout Tharparkar district on Thursday disrupting the civic life.

The entire communication system in Mithi town collapsed due to the downpour.

Our correspondent reported that rainwater had entered homes and almost all the telephone lines had been rendered out of order.

It was raining at the time of filing of this report at 9 pm.

WTO: Activists of the Green Rural Development Organization held a demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday, demanding that the government should consult growers before signing agricultural agreements of the World Trade Organization.

They carried placards and banners, calling upon the government to provide information to growers about the WTO agreements.

Speaking on the occasion, Qasim Shah, Comrade Ghulam Hussain Malookani, Qamar Shaikh and others urged developed countries to withdraw subsidy on agricultural produce.

They further demanded that food items should be exempted from WTO conditions.

DEATH ANNIVERSARY: The Anjuman-e-Bahbood Khwateen, Jamshoro, commemorated the 2nd death anniversary of educationist and social worker the late Begum Khadija Khanam Daudpota here on Tuesday. Quran Khwani and Fateha Khwani were held on the occasion.

The chief patron of the Anjuman-e-Bahbood Khwateen, Jamshoro, Akhtar Jabeen Siddiqui, presided over the anniversary function.Rich tribute was paid to Begum Khadija for her services.
