2 hurt in Indian firing

MIRPUR, Sept 7: Two civilians including a girl were wounded in Azad Kashmir late on Saturday night in fresh shelling by Indian troops on a forward village close to this side of the Line of Control (LoC), in Samahni Sector of Bhimbher district.

DSP Raja Mohammad Nasim Khan told APP that 18-year-old Riffat Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Younas, and 65-year-old Khan Muhammad, son of Dil Muhammad, sustained serious injuries in the unprovoked Indian firing on the dwellers of village Sahala Poona in Samahni sector.

The injured, he said, were admitted to the district headquarter hospital. One victim is said to be in critical condition due to head injury.

“The shelling began in Samahni sector on Saturday night, with Indian troops targeting as usual the civilian population along the LoC,” the DSP said, adding that it continued for some time with pauses.
