SIALKOT, June 1: Two minor girls sustained serious injuries on Sunday in mortar shelling by Indian troops in Koraal village of the Sialkot Working Boundary’s Shakargarh-Narowal sector.
Sources said Sumera (6) and Uzma (5) were playing in a street when they were hit by mortar shells, injuring both of them seriously. They were admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.
They said that Indian soldiers fired several mortar shells on Koraal village, but majority of them landed in the fields and could not explode.
Meanwhile, the Indian troops on Sunday continued unprovoked firing with light and heavy machine guns on bordering villages in both Sialkot and Narowal districts. The shelling resulted in the killing of two donkeys besides damaging several cattle-sheds and disrupting the sowing of paddy crop.
Sources said that Pakistani security forces responded effectively, causing heavy defensive losses to the enemy and injuring two Indian soldiers seriously.
LOOTED: Four armed robbers late Saturday night looted cash, ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables worth Rs150,000 from passengers of the Gujranwala-bound wagon on the main Daska Road.
Masquerading as passengers the robbers boarded the wagon from near Pandoriyan village, Motra. After some distance, they whipped out their weapons and took the vehicle to the banks of Upper Chenab Canal where passengers were deprived of their belongings. Later, the robbers offloaded the passengers and took away the vehicle.
SUSPENDED: The computer operator in-charge of the computerized driving licence was suspended from service while all the male and female staff of this branch was transferred to Sialkot Police Lines for corruption.
DPO Amjad Javaid also delegated powers of issuing the computerized driving licences to Sialkot SP (Headquarters) Tariq Abbas.
