KHAR, June 21: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah on Friday said that the government would soon provide basic civic facilities to the people of tribal areas and urged the elders to play their role in maintenance of peace and writ of the government in the agency.

He was addressing a tribal jirga here during his visit to Bajaur Agency. Elders, members of peace committees and officials of local administration were present on the occasion.

The governor said that peace was important for development of the agency and the elders should continue their support to the government. He said that role of the elders was very essential in the tribal areas and the government had been trying to improve the tribal system in Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He said that security threats should not be ignored though writ of the government had been established in the region. He said that the government was interested in providing basic facilities to the tribesmen.

Mr Shaukatullah said that the government had increased funds of the annual development programme for Fata in the federal budget 2013-14. He said that these funds would be spent on providing basic facilities to tribal people.

He said that feasibility of Fata medical college and cadet collage in Bajaur Agency was ready and work on these projects would start soon.

The governor asked the local administration to form monitoring committees for ensuring quality work on the development schemes. Meanwhile, the administration officials briefed the governor about the ongoing projects in the agency.
