NEW DELHI, June 14: Pakistan High Commissioner Salman Bashir called on Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma on Friday and discussed enhancement of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, reports said.

“Mr Bashir is believed to have assured Mr Sharma that the new government in Pakistan, headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was keen on strengthening trade and economic relations with India, and a decision on various issues would be taken in the next few months,” The Hindu newspaper said.

Earlier, a joint delegation of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Saarc Chamber called on Mr Bashir at the Pakistan High Commission. The delegation included FICCI Secretary-General A. Didar Singh, Vice-President Jyotsna Suri, and President of Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vikramjit Singh Sahney.
