CEC, COAS call on PM Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the latter’s office.

Ebrahim congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on his taking the premier’s office.

The prime minister congratulated Ebrahim for holding what he called free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

Prime Minister Sharif said his government firmly believed in strengthening and sustaining democratic institutions in the country.

The prime minister said the way the elections were conducted under the supervision of Ebrahim had set a healthy precedent to be emulated in the future.

Also today, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani called on Prime Minster Sharif at the latter’s office.

During the meeting, the two discussed the overall security situation of the country as well as matters relating to national security.
