PESHAWAR, June 12: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would unveil its first provincial budget for financial year 2013-14 on June 17, an official said.

Law Secretary Mohammad Arifeen and Finance Secretary Sahibzada Syed Ahmad held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar in his chamber here on Wednesday and discussed the schedule for the budget session. It was decided that budget session would be convened on Monday, the official said.

Senior Minister Sirajul Haq of Jamaat-i-Islami, who got portfolio of finance, will present the budget in the assembly.

Meanwhile, 12 more members of the provincial cabinet will take oath at Governor’s House on Thursday. Governor Eng Shaukatullah will administer oath to them.

Two senior ministers -- Sirajul Haq and Sikandar Khan Sherpao -- had already taken oath on May 31. Jamaat-i-Islami, one of the coalition partners, has been given three portfolios including finance, local government, and Zakat, Ushr and social welfare.

Quami Watan Party and Awami Jamhuri Ittehad Pakistan would also get portfolios in the 15-member cabinet. Sikandar Khan Sherpao has been given portfolio of irrigation, energy and power. MPA Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, PTI provincial general secretary, said that name of the 12 ministers and their portfolios would be decided at a meeting on Wednesday night.

He said that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak would chair the meeting while party leaders as well as coalition partners would also take part in the meeting. — Bureau Report
