LAHORE, June 9: Rescuers fished out the bodies of two youngsters, who drowned in the Lahore Canal Branch on Sunday while another man was also feared drowned while taking bath in the canal.

Rescue 1122 Water Rescue Service said a 12-year-old boy disappeared in water while taking bath at Thokar Bridge along Canal Road. The body was fished out after hectic effort and the victim was yet to be identified. Nawab Town police shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital’s morgue.

In another incident, the body of 14-year-old Danial of Kot Lakhpat was fished out from the canal near Shah Di Khoi. Johar Town police shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital’s morgue.

In the third incident, an unidentified 20-year-old man was feared drowned in the BRB Canal at Khaira Pull near Railway Line.

Rescuers failed to find the missing boy till Sunday evening.

FIRE: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands were reduced to ashes in four fire incidents in the city on Sunday.

A portion of a food outlet on MM Alam Road caught fire which burnt valuables.

Another fire broke out in a poultry farm at Mandianwala near Jallo Morr, gutting valuables. Fire incidents were also reported in a shop in Iqbal Town and in a house of Faizan in Shahdara.

Firefighters of Rescue 1122 brought the blaze under control.

ACCIDENT: Three people died in as many road accidents in the provincial capital on Sunday, police said.

Liaqat was crossing the road in the Chuhng area when he was hit by a wagon. He was father of five and a resident of Baghbanpura.

An unidentified woman in her 70s was run over and killed by a rickshaw in North Cantonment area. Kamran was hit and killed by a bus in Manga Mandi area.

ROBBERY: Two robbers entered Khurram Super Store on Sultan Road in Ichhra police remit and took away Rs40,000 from him.

Two robbers approached Rehan and his family near Kachi Kothi Stop in Nawab Town police remit and looted Rs6,000 and two cell phones from them.Two robbers waylaid a car-riding family at Taj Bagh and deprived them of 13 tolas of gold ornaments.

THEFT: Thieves broke into the house of Asad in Sattokatla police limits and made off with Rs100,000 and 30 tolas of gold ornaments.
