LAHORE, May 21: Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Iqbal Khan and IGP Aftab Sultan were transferred by the federal government on Tuesday.

Both the officers were appointed during the caretaker government in the province. They and three other officers, including Additional Secretary Rao Iftikhar, had on May 9 asked for their repatriation to the federal government immediately after the polls.

It was stated that the election winning PML-N has decided to post Javaid Aslam as the new chief secretary. And a notification in this regard is expected anytime.

Mr Aslam was the P&D chairman in the previous Shahbaz government.

Sources said the federal government had earlier decided to post the outgoing Javaid Iqbal as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, but he did not accept the offer. As a result he was asked to report to the Establishment Division.

The IGP was reportedly posted as National Police Academy commandant.

Officials said the federal government was also expected to withdraw Additional Chief Secretary Rao Iftikhar on Wednesday (today). He may be posted in Islamabad.
