KARACHI/HYDERABAD: Hundreds of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supporters led by local party leaders staged protests in front of the Hyderabad and Karachi Press Clubs on Sunday against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s statements against their party chief Altaf Hussain.

Hundreds of men, women and youth attended a big rally to condemn PTI chairman Imran Khan’s statement to the media against Altaf Hussain in the backdrop of the targeted killing of PTI’s Sindh vice president Zahra Shahid Hussain on the eve of re-polling in Karachi’s NA-250 constituency.

MQM leader and member of party’s Central Rabita (coordination) Committee Wasim Aftab said that the party activists could bear everything but derogatory remarks against MQM chief Altaf Hussain would not be tolerated.

Another Rabita Committee member and former provincial health minister Dr Saghir Ahmed said that party members and sympathisers from all over the country condemned and were protesting against the remarks made by Imran Khan.

Senator Farogh Nasim said that a notice was sent to the PTI chief to sue him for Rs 50 billion over the defamatory remarks made against MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

Similarly, the party’s zonal in-charge Hyderabad, Mohammad Sharif, joint zonal in-charge Naveed Shamsi, MNA elect Wasim Hussain, MPAs elect Dilawar Qureshi, Sabir Kaimkhani and Rashid Khilji addressed the workers during their protest staged outside Hyderabad Press Club.

MPA elect from Hyderbabad Sabir Kaimkhani said that Altaf Hussain has talked of non-violence whereas his followers were like a cast iron wall for their leader.
