PESHAWAR : The routine operations of the Edhi ambulance service would remain suspended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from 6 pm tomorrow until the end of elections over threats that the organisation's ambulances might be used in terror attacks.

Officials of the Edhi ambulance service told Dawn.com that they had received instructions from their administration that the routine operations of the ambulance service would remain suspended for the general public whereas volunteers of the organisation would be available only in case of a crises or emergency situation.

This is the first time in history since the foundation's establishment in 1951 that the service would be suspended.

Moreover according to a letter of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan chief Hakimullah Mehsud addressing the banned oraganisation's spoekesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan, the TTP chief had communicated that the militants would carry out attacks in all four province of the country on May 11 adding that he would himself supervise the operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and parts of Balochistan province.

The letter written on May 1, 2013 under the signature of Hakimullah Mehsud on the TTP letter pad also advised the TTP spokesman to consult the advisory committee, in case they wanted to reschedule the planning if needed.
