Let's face it of late the Pakistani music scene has been pretty lame. With Coke Studio's third edition by and large not living up to expectations along with Strings and Atif Aslam's Ab Khud Kuch Karna Parey Ga, and Shahzad Roy's repetitive Bullshit, you were inclined to think that the music industry has hit rock-bottom. Well, apparently there's still hope.
Young Amanat Ali's version of Ae Watan kay Sajeelay Jawanon which he sang in the last episode of CS-3 proved to be the saving grace not only for the studio but also for the pop industry. The naujawan singer sang the milli naghma with such poise and feeling that it put his performance right up there with Arif Lohar's and Meesha Shafi's Alif Allah Chambay di Booti two songs (different in styles) that were the highlight of this summer's music scene. Methinks Amanat Ali's Ae Watan kay Sajeelay... will prove to be a watershed song in his career.
