ISLAMABAD, May 8: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stayed the dismissal of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmed.

Dr Iftikhar Ahmed was appointed PARC chairman through proper channel some eight months back for a period of two years. However, the caretaker government decided to dismiss his services.

The caretaker prime minister approved a summary initiated by the ministry of food security here Wednesday and his dismissal order was issued same day.

However, Dr Iftikhar approached Islamabad High Court, pleading that the order issued by the Establishment Division did not assign any reason.

Dr Iftikhar also produced his letter of appointment as chairman PARC in MP-I grade.

During the course of his appeal Chairman PARC told the court that he had been at odd with some members of the caretaker government for resisting unlawful directives.

The court was also informed that officials in the ministry of food security and the Establishment Division had informed the PARC officials regarding the move of his dismissal.—A Reporter
