KARACHI: Pakistan’s two top title contenders, World Champion Muhammad Asif and former Asian number two Mohammad Sajjad, notched their second wins in the Jubilee Insurance 29th Asian Snooker Championship on Sunday.

Top seed Asif was at his brilliant best when he hammered Mohsen Bukhshaisha of Qatar in four straight frames without any trouble that included a break of 56 in third frame.

Sajjad, who seemed determined to make his mark in this event, thrashed an unfancied Han Sang Hee from South Korea 4-0.

However Abu Saim, who lost an exciting opening round tie on Saturday, bounced back in the match when he conjured up a 4-2 triumph over Yuttapop Pakpoj of Thailand.

Former Pakistani Saleh Muhammad, who is now representing Afghanistan, defeated his former team-mate Imran Shahzad 4-1 to collect his second win with a break of 71 in the final frame.

After his second defeat, Imran Shahzad is facing a tough challenge to progress in the last 16 round.

Fung Kowk Wai, Aamir Sarkosh of Iran, Wang Yuchin of China Omar Al Kojah of Syria also chalked out their second wins.
