ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday said Pakistan would soon be contacting the Interpol for the handing over of Maulvi Faqir Mohammad, a senior commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) recently captured in Afghanistan, DawnNews reported.

The Taliban commander was captured on Monday by Afghan intelligence personnel in a border area and the Foreign Office had on Thursday asked the Afghan government to hand him over to Pakistan.

On the issue of dialogue with the TTP, Malik said the Pakistani Taliban had been speaking of holding talks with the government but did not appear serious on the matter.

The minister advised the TTP to adopt the path of peace and to constitute a team which could be delegated the task of holding a dialogue with the government.

Malik moreover said that the armed forces and intelligence agencies were doing an outstanding job and requested political leaders to refrain from suggesting intelligence failures in the wake of terrorist attacks.

He said the principal target of the insurgents was Islamabad and added that the government would act with full force against those involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan.

Pakistan wants to have Maulvi Faqir Mohammad so that the Pakistan courts can set him free, just like the scores of known terrorists before him. Afghanistan, on the other hand, may punish him and hence we will lose one terrorist. What a shame!!

Why Pakistan want custody of TTP leader had govt hanged the current TTP terrorist of swat who are currently in govt custody I am pretty sure AZad Adlia will release them due to lack of evidence and even if maulvi faqir terrorist is handed over to Pakistan he will be released as a good gesture by Pakistan. Amed forces and intelligence agencies are really doing a goo job in construction DHA only not for the security of Pakistan.

The less Rehman Malik opens his mouth to speak the better it is for not just the Nation but for him as well. We are sick and tired of his mumblings and hollow promises and statements devoid of any real time truth or action.

What a confusion. Maulvi Faqir Mohammad has already been arrested by the Afghan Government. Now if Pakistan wants Faqir Mohammad to be handed over to them, it should be more Afghanistan friendly than Interpol friendly, and ask Afghan government, instead.

There are so many to capture in Pakistan that you will run out lifetimes before you achieve it. You hobnob with a majority of them. Why not start from the next street and then reach Afghanistan.

Is It worth a comment except it clearly exposes the true sympathies of Mr Malik. Instead worrying about the mass murders of shias his heart is bleeding for the safety of Maulvi Faqir a senior commander who has planned and executed so many attacks on the innocent people and establishment of Pakistan.
