AS regards the issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) to senior citizens, the government had claimed it would issue lifelong CNICs to all senior citizens It was under this impression that I applied for the renewal of my expired CNIC, hoping that the new one will be valid for life.

However, being over 70 years, I was shocked to see the new card which was valid for seven years only.

On inquiry I was told that the policy of issuing CNICs for life to senior citizens has been abandoned, unannounced.

While other countries give their senior citizens many privileges to ease the burden of old age, in our country senior citizens are made to suffer.

The most brutal thing about this is that it has not been announced that seniors would not be issued CNIC with lifetime validity. Why no announcement, dear NADRA ? What was wrong with this good practice ? Why want to add to the miseries of old people ? Please reverse the decision and start issuing life time CNICs to senior citizens again...please.

We all know but we dont know. Mam what use is an NIC when we cant bring change be it valid for 7 ears or life time we are seeing these people for life time unless we really use this NIC to bring out the righteous people through our vote.
