We often witness inauguration of new public parks, grounds, etc., with much fanfare. However, the majority of such public places lose charm and the interest of the people owing to lack of maintenance of the amenities. To resolve this issue, it is suggested that in every such project of public welfare at least 10 per cent of the total allocated area is dedicated to commercial activities like developing a shopping area, food court, mini-golf course, drive-in cinema, etc and leased out.
