PREVIEW: Pakistan look to shutout flagging India at Eden Gardens  Kolkata ODI sold out, says CAB official

19:11 PST:

That's it! Junaid goes through Ishant Sharma and he finishes with 9-39-3.  Pakistan win by a whopping 85 runs. Nasir Jamshed has rightfully been adjudged man of the match for his 124-ball 106. As predicted before the series, it was a battle of Pakistan's fast bowlers against India's solid batting line, but the difference this time was that the Pakistani batsmen also out-shined the hosts'. Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan and Shoaib Malik, all looked solid. Malik has stepped up in the most timely of manners and should strengthen his case as a regular in Pakistan's limited-overs side.

19:09 PST:

Dhoni reaches his fifty, his 9th against Pakistan and remain unbeaten on 54 off 89 balls. He should have ideally come in place of Raina and has easily looked like the best Indian batsman in the series so far.

19:01 PST:

The teams just going through the motions, stretching the inevitable. Dhoni breaks the silence! What a shot, typical Dhoni short-arm jab over long-on, Junaid wakes up. The exciting bit about this impending series win for Pakistan is no doubt the resurgence of its fast bowling unit. Junaid, Gul and Irfan have all fired, great lengths and just the right amount of aggression. Anwar Ali yet to used on this tour and perhaps Misbah can give him a shot in the 3rd ODI. Haris Sohail and Zulfiqar Babar, may also make the cut if Pakistan are looking to test things out before their next big assignment in South Africa. India 149/9 in 46.

18:41 PST:

Dhoni just nudging it around, not attempting any singles either. Perhaps he has been left deflated, maybe pissed, by the effort of his much-vaunted top-order. Gambhir and Sehwag simply failed to get out of the blocks, putting pressure on the rest of the batsmen to come. What will become of this performance with Dhoni already under the cosh? India hanging at 139/9 in 43.

18:32 PST:

Ajmal strikes! He finally gets on the sheet after flying low on the tour so far! Three in the over! Jadeja goes first, caught by Junaid at mid-on who leaps to take that one while Kumar and Dinda are trapped right in front! Ajmal 8-19-3. India 132/9 in 40.

18:22 PST:

Junaid Khan has 3 left, Irfan 2, Gul 5 and Ajmal 4. Misbah has plenty of options for when Dhoni and Jadeja decide to go for it. India reach 125/6 in 38.

18:18 PST:

Dhoni has hardly broken a sweat over here, he has been joined by Jadeja who would be looking to provide support to the captain. Deep inside Pakistan will know that Dhoni is still capable of pulling this one off. India 121/6 in 37.

17:53 PST:

He does even better! The struggling Ashwin dances down the pitch and misses Malik's slider, Akmal does the rest. Ashwin consumed 22 balls for his 3 runs and why Jadeja was held back on Dhoni can tell. India 103/6 in 32.

17:51 PST:

Misbah brings on Malik now. The way the pitch is playing, he could do a similar job to that of Hafeez.

17:47 PST:

Hafeez's contribution with the ball turning out to be as valuable as his 76 runs earlier. His 8 overs have gone for just 19 and fetched the important wicket of Raina.

17:39 PST:

And the partnership is broken. Raina stumped off Hafeez. Tried to work that one through the offside, dragged his foot out and was found inches short by a rapid responder Kamran Akmal behind the stumps.  Referred to the third umpire and is given out. India five down.

17:31 PST:

Saeed Ajmal comes into the attack and India score a couple of singles off the over. Are the hosts struggling? 91 for four after 25 overs. Dhoni's partnership stands at 23 runs off 39 balls.

17:20 PST:

Hafeez and Irfan keeping India at bay - for now. Five runs off the last two overs. India 85 for four in 23. Hafeez has conceded 12 runs from his five overs.

Pakistan should now give the chance to Haris Sohail inplace of Azhar Ali and Misbah and Azhar Ali should limit themself to Test cricket only.

How is Sohaib malik burden I would love to have him any day.He played according to situation.Younis Khan got out to lbw on ball hitting his bat which he has no control over.He has already played well in first ODI.Misbah role as Captain is to make team winning outfit. He is successful in turning new team into winning combination. Also do not forget that same team under Misbah has blanked England 3-0 and drawn series with South Africa have now beaten India.Stop whinning and slump in cricket is not new.So many greats of yester years had worse slump in cricket. What matters most is that Pakistan won.You should be happy unless you have placed bet on Pakistan loss .

congrats to pakistan team for great performence. of course pakistan won the series but main concern is still the batting lineup. opners are doing a great job but the middle order is very shaky. pakistan still need some solid middle order batsmen. now pakistan won the series so they can try haris sohail at no.3 and few other players.

To all my Indian friends: Guys (and girls :p), you've recently lost several truly great batsmen due to age in the space of a few months. Of course, it's going to be hard for the new players to replace them immediately so don't lose patience with your team. They will soon become one of the best teams across all three formats again. Best regards from a Pakistani

It couldnt have come at a better time. From the perspective of an Indian cricket fan, I want to thank Pakistan for having beaten this Indian team so convincingly. Cause nothing would kick the selectors out of their collective slumber than this well deserved defeat at the hand of Pakistan team. Kudos to your bowlers for once again reviving a fabled tradition.

Good job, Pakistan. Well played! India really needs to revamp their team. All this focus on Sachin needing to be replaced. So now, what's the excuse?

Haha Chaudhary is that the reason all Pakistan players die to get signed up for IPL? If they could not get IPL, they went and played BPL? Second thing, I really think Pakistan played very well to deserve this victory so congratulations on that. And rahi IPL ki baat, Azhar Mahmood changed his nationality to British to play last season of IPL. Any thoughts on that?

Hearty congratulations to the entire Pakistan Cricket team as well as the support staff for a splendid and decisive win over India. Was a pleasure to see the camaraderie in the Pakistan ranks. Aggressive batting at the top by Hafeez and Jamshed on a not so conducive wicket for batting and followed by some tantalasing bowling by Junaid at the top, superb exhibition of short pitch bowling by Irfan, accuray of Hafeez, the guile of Ajmal and not to mention the old fox Gul with his toe crushing yorkers. This is a resurgent team and more power to them. Enjoy your success and continue to exhibit this brand of cricket. Also what stands out is the sportsmanship spirit and the friendly attitude which was not so evident in earlier teams. Humility is key. Great performance. God be with you

Congratulations we won the match and the series but still I will maintain that there is nil absolutely nil contribution from captain Inzi in particular whatsoever as he did not score at all either in the 1st or the 2nd match whereas see Dhoni who fought back like real captain and stayed on the crease till last and had his other batsmen stayed on the other end he had even changed the fate of the game. Captain is not just as one of the 11 players rather he leads the team with his personal qualities which Inzi has lacked in the past as well. Just be honest and see his total records as to how many matches he ha played so far all in all 3 formats and how much he has scored in total. High time for PCB to review his performance and only sack him from captaincy, banned him from playing anymore and even fined hum monetarily which will be a lesson for others too. What a disaster for Pakistan to slump down so cheaply after such a good opening stand between Nasir Jamshaid and T-20 captain Hafeez but then none could hold on. Hefeez has very rightly led his team to follow him in building good score but alas it could not be cashed as it ought to be. Nasir was left alone to steer Pakistan to some respectable total which he did by scoring a century but then what did present captain Mibah or for that matter previous captains Youns or Shoaib for that matter who aotted are not more than a burden on us and because of their presence others cannot be slotted in. Players like Nasir Jamshed be brought in and old tried white elephants if we really want to flutter Pakistan flag atop in cricketing nations.
