KARACHI: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) missed the chance to close the gap on Pakistan Premier Football League leaders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) after being held to a 1-1 draw by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) here on Saturday.
Champions KRL have 59 points from 24 games while second-placed KESC are four points behind having played two games more.
PIA stunned KESC by taking the lead in the 21st minute when Nasrullah scored with a clever shot before thwarting several attacks from their opponents as goalkeeper Abu Bakr made crucial saves.
Abu Bakr was finally beaten a minute into the second-half when Abdul Salaam scored with a blistering shot but KESC could not find the winner that would have helped them put pressure on KRL.
Sunday’s fixture: KPT v HBL (KPT Football Stadium, Karachi).—Sports Reporter
