THE Sindh education department has issued a press notification, calling all academic staff to get smart cards from the Sindh secretariat after submission of service books, service cards and the last pay slips. This must be done before Dec 15, 2012, otherwise salaries will be stopped. Knowing fully well that the days are numbered, the minister and his officials have drawn out a dirty play to make quick money. The teaching staff alone is more than 100,000 and at the rate of Rs3,000 per smart card, the amount collected will be Rs300million. How can the secretariat accommodate so much rush if this project is implemented? There will be a law and order situation under the present circumstances. I urge the chief minister and the Sindh governor to urgently intervene in this matter and save the teaching staff. A TEACHER Karachi
