RAWALPINDI, Nov 28: Two suspected members of the banned outfit, Hizbut Tahrir, were remanded in police custody, for three days. They had been caught by an intelligence agency, while pasting posters and hanging banners, inscribed with slogans against the government, at Chandani Chowk.

However, the police launched a hunt for some suspected people, who had been with the two, before they were caught. No arrests have been made, so far.

The two young men are brothers, Malik Zahid and Malik Shahid, were caught pasting posters on walls and hanging banners, inscribed with anti-government and anti-US slogans.

Mohammad Akram, sub-inspector, leading the investigation, said the arrested men were running a printing press, in the Waris Khan Police area and had printed posters and banners worth Rs4,000.

“Mostly these people are involved in anti-state activities,” the inspector said and added that a large quantity of posters and banners were also recovered from their custody.

A case was registered with the New Town police, on charges of 16 MPO: inciting the public against the government and the armed forces.

When the spokesman for Hizbut Tahrir was contacted through email, he gave no response. —Staff Reporter
