KOHALA - Dhir Kot Road of Bagh district in Azad Kashmir is an important road linking AJK capital Muzaffarabad and Pakistani capital Islamabad with the four districts of Azad Kashmir, namely, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli and Sudhnoti.
It was a narrow road when Sardar Ateeq Ahmad, the then(2006) prime minister of Azad Kashmir ordered the widening of the road to meet the requirements of the area, keeping in view the increasing population.
The government faced a vote of no - confidence which resulted in the stopping of work on this road. The road was further ignored by the two successive governments of Sardar Yaqoob Khan and Raja Farooq Haider.
When Chaudhry Abdul Majeed became prime minister of the state, he very kindly ordered the starting of work on this road and allocated necessary funds.
Unfortunately the people of the area could not see their dreams realised as the ERRA stopped payment of dues to contractors. It resulted in the stopping of work again.
The contractors have removed machinery from the area. The condition of the road shall soon deteriorate.
