LANDI KOTAL, Nov 13: Three soldiers received injuries in a roadside blast in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Tuesday, sources said.
They said that a convoy of security forces was patrolling Khurma Tung area of Akkakhel when a bomb, planted along the roadside, exploded. Three security men identified as hawaldar Zahid, sepoy Aqeel and sepoy Mir Baz were injured in the blast, they added.
Sources said that the injured soldiers were airlifted through a helicopter to a military hospital in Peshawar for treatment.
Meanwhile, two women and three children were injured critically when a mortar shell fell on the house of Sarteeb Khan in Khawangi area of Akkakhel on Tuesday. Sources said that the injured included wife, daughter, son and two nephews of the owner of the house. A major portion of the house was also damaged in the incident.
In Mohmand Agency, a member of Dawezai Peace Committee was killed in a roadside explosion in Pandiali tehsil on Monday.
Sources said that Adam Khan was walking near his home in Inzari Maingan area when the explosion occured. He was killed on the spot in the blast. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan claimed responsibility for the blast.
Meanwhile, security forces defused an explosive device, planted on the main Peshawar-Bajaur Road. Traffic was suspended on the road.
Local people alleged that suspension of traffic on the road resulted in death of an ailing child, who was being shifted to Peshawar for treatment.
Security forces, after defusing the explosive device, arrested four persons under collective responsibility clause of FCR and sent them to lockup in Ghalanai.
In Malakand protected area, one person was killed and another received injuries in a blast at a scrap shop in Thana on Tuesday.
Sources said that an explosive device went off in the scrap shop that killed a labourer identified as Ziarat Khan. Ghufranullah, the owner of the scrap shop, was injured in the blast.
Batkhela Sub-divisional Magistrate Qaiser Khan Nasir and Col Mohammad Islam along with security personnel reached the spot and ordered search of nearby scrap shops to avert happening of any other such incident.
They said that the blast occurred as some type of explosive was kept in the scrap shop.
