PESHAWAR, Sept 5: Leaders of different political parties have formed an alliance under the banner of Fata Qabail Ittehad to pressurise the government for stopping military operations in parts of Federally Administered Tribal Areas, warning that in case their miseries are not ended they will collectively decide to migrate to Afghanistan.

In this regard a group of tribesmen addressed a joint press conference in Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday. Briefing media persons, Mohammad Iqbal Afridi said that that drone attacks had greatly disturbed the civilian population of Waziristan Agency and the people had already made their intentions clear to migrate to Afghanistan.

He said that launch of an operation in North Waziristan would be a blunder on part of the government. He said that the Fata Qabail Ittehad would soon convene a meeting of tribal elders to decide future line of action so that they could take steps with consultation.

Speaking on behalf of the group of tribesmen, Mr Iqbal said that the newly-established forum was not ready to accept the government’s plan concerning local bodies’ elections in the prevailing circumstances.

“Right now, the most important thing is restoration of peace, rehabilitation of internally displaced persons, compensation of affected families, and reconstruction of infrastructure besides provision of basic facilities to people,” he explained.

Flanked by Ahmed Zeb advocate, Dost Mohammad, Gul Madar Afridi and others, Mr Iqbal said that holding of local elections were not possible in Fata because majority of tribesmen had vacated their houses due to lawlessness and shifted to other parts of the country. He said that the elections in Fata had been announced just to defuse public pressure against military operations.

He lamented that tribesmen in Khyber Agency had suffered the most due to delay in completion of operation, saying that there seemed to be no end to the operations and people were living an uncertain life, not knowing when they would return to their homes.

“The government has failed to restore normalcy to Khyber Agency. Therefore, we are planning to shift to Afghanistan with a hope to live a life better than in camps, as police are still targeting us even in IDP camps,” he said, adding that they might boycott next general elections if the situation in Fata did not improve.

Besides, he said that the tribesmen were unable to move from one place to another because police arrested innocent people only to release them after payment of bribe. He claimed that two tribal elders, Haji Muran and Haji Zareen, had been arrested from Jalozai Camp without any reason. “We have been forced to live in settled areas and now the FCR laws cannot be applied to us,” Mr Iqbal said.

Ahmad Zeb, an elder from Bajaur Agency, called for reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in tribal region to provide health and education health facilities to tribesmen.

He said that due to attacks in Bajaur from Afghan soil, the people of border area had vacated their houses, but the government had so far not provided them basic facilities like tents and food.

Well FATA should be declared province of pakistan and all arms shall be banned like other parts of Pakistan. Then only development can come in .At this time all narcotics get sold openly in FATA shops and they are spreading this cancer to Pakistan. All militants and Taliban take refuge in FATA .Can FATA people make sure that they get rid of these Taliban .Only then things will become normal.

The current Pakistani government is ONLY interested in filling their own pockets with foreign aid. As long as their onw lives are safe, they don't give a rat's rear about anyone else, especially people in the north.

For the love of God, go ahead and leave! You have been a burden and a liability for the Pakistani Nation. You contribute nothing to the well being of the Nation and if anything, you are a drain on the little resources we have. So, go on and leave and don't let the door hit you on the back..
Does not matter

It will not only be sad but a scary matter too for Pakistan. If these people migrate now and return back after NATO pull out, their loyalties will be with Taliban instead of Pakistan government and if that happens then it will be difficult for Pakistan to keep control on FATA.

Crocodile tears - they are not fooling anyone by their 'laments'. The tribals have nearly a million armed men - and they know who the militants are. They should either sort out the militancy issue themselves or not cry foul when the army takes action.

They are nice innocent and honest people.People party government should take some sense and avoid hurting everyone in the country as they have to face the conditions after election .then they will only live in Dubai and the uk only.try to reduce corruption and take care of poor in the country.it's not capitalist system of landlords as the president is raised in since his childhood.they are true country loving people ,they need ur love care and jobs.it's their right as a sincere and brave citizens of the country.u r the president and it's ur responsibility to provide welfare to people or otherwise history is too ruthless.u should learn from it my dear beloved president and the government.

Issues of tribal men should be addressed at earliest.they are at ground zero socially economically and politically. And time is not far when they will be morally at the lowest ebb if they are not re habilited on time at their areas.

Everyone wants to leave the country, Pathans, Hindus, Baloch (they actually want to take their land with them) and the common young man in the street searching for a better life. The country is poor but it will become poorer still without all its people.
