QUETTA: Police on Thursday found the bodies of seven coal miners who were kidnapped last week in Pakistan's insurgency-torn southwestern province of Baluchistan, officials said.

The miners were abducted on July 7 in the Soorang area, 25 kilometres east of the provincial capital Quetta, and their bullet-ridden bodies were found dumped on a roadside in the hills of nearby Degari, administration official Zafar Bokhari told AFP.

The Baluchistan Liberation Army, which is fighting for independence from the federal government, had claimed responsibility for their kidnapping but there was no claim for their deaths, Bokhari said.

The miners were from the Swat valley, which is part of the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.

Local police said the miners had been shot dead overnight.

On Wednesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, accused paramilitary forces of involvement in a third of all disappearances in Baluchistan, where the military has been accused of rights violations in its bid to put down the insurgency.

The so called BLA must not forget that Balochistan is part of Pakistan. People from every ethnicity have the right to live in Balochistan. And most of all they should not forget that the majority of people residing in this beautiful province belong to the Pashtun tribes. And if this carries on, then they (BLA, BLT, etc) and whoever is supporting them are certainly digging their own graves. Baloch, Pathan, Punjabi, Sindhi, Hazaras brother and sisters are still living and working side by side. And no matter what happens it will still be the same. If you have any problem then leave and go sit with your sardars in Dubai, Switzerland and UK. Every time you kill or injure a person, the human nature kicks in and we go to help regardless of our or the targeted person's ethnicity. And you know what we hate you even more. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD

BLA has no regard for human lives. These innocents’ miners were trying to make living for their families. The sponsors of BLA living in western countries who accept foreigners regardless of the race, color and religion and I am surprised that these sponsors of BLA don't learn anything from the West. These people are greedy and heartless people. Baluchistan is big province and belongs to everybody not just few migrants from Syria or elsewhere in the 11th century.

Nope we won't see the media making a hue and cry about their death for sure! Because they are poor people and no one cares about them. Isn't this Government supposed to provide protection to all the citizens even if they are coal miners by profession?
