HYDERABAD, June 20: The president of Sindh chapter of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association, Azhar Ali Shah, has condemned termination of services of 11 teachers by the administration of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU)’ Instead of reinstating dismissed Prof Anwar Mangrio, the VC terminated the teachers, he said.
He said Arshad Saleem Arain, who did not qualify for the post of vice-chancellor, was terminating services of qualified faculty members because they had challenged what he called his illegal appointment in the court.
“While appointing Arshad Saleem Arain as the VC, a dummy syndicate occupied by MNAs and MPAs of the ruling party and their cronies violated principles of merit and justice,” he alleged.
The syndicate was being used by a single person as rubber stamp to continue ‘autocratic style of governance’ in a university named after a great leader who had sacrificed her life for democracy, he said.
He sought attention of President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and human rights and political activists and urged them to support teachers of SBBU.
