KARACHI, June 9: ‘Live and let live: Stop violence in the name of religion’ was the name of the programme organised by the Citizens for Democracy at the Arts Council here on Saturday to show solidarity with lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir after she received death threats.

Taking part at the panel discussion through video link, Ms Jahangir said: “I am not new to threats. I frequently get strange pamphlets or letters with all kinds of threats, which I always forward to the SHO in my area if for nothing else then to at least keep a record of it. But this time there was a leak in an assignation plot.”

She continued: “We have tolerated enough nonsense from the army (men) who think they are supposed to make policies and then threaten us, the people of this country. It is now time to face the army and ask them once and for all how much they want from us.” —Staff Reporter
