QUETTA, May 26: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Saturday the ruling by the National Assembly speaker in the contempt case had served to defuse the tensions in Islamabad.
Talking to reporters at a gathering, he said that nobody should criticise the judgments of the Supreme Court whether or not one agreed with them. “Similarly, no one should assail the ruling of the speaker,” he said.
Maulana Fazl said that remarks by the Chief Justice of Pakistan about a state of emergency or martial law in the country had dismayed the people because they looked up to the apex court to protect them from such situations.—Amanullah Kasi
