AMSTELVEEN, June 29: Penalty corner master Sohail Abbas's two goals led Pakistan to 6-1 win against India on Tuesday in the Four Nations Trophy hockey being played on Tuesday at Wagener Hockey Stadium.

Sohail, who earlier failed against Germany, showed his class by scoring two goals against India to give Pakistan a boost in its second fixtures of the four-team event. Pakistan started with defensive strategy of putting only four forwards like 4-3-3 as against India who rather began with 5-3-2 formation, an offensive strategy.

Pakistan first raided on Indian defence when right winger Rehan Butt dodged past three defenders in the very outset of the match and gave ball to Kashif Jawad. Kashif tried but Chauhan padded it to safety.

Pakistan took the lead when unmarked Shakeel Abbasi connected a right winger Kashif Jawad cross in front Indian goal in the 7th minute. Kashif took the ball from the left and went through the right side by dodging four defenders in a row and by reaching at the right position Kashif gave a beautiful cross toward Shakeel.

Shakeel gave no chance to onrushing Devesh Chauhan to stop the ball into the left corner. After taking lead Pakistan made two more combined attacks and once it reached nearer to score but skipper Nadeem's attempt touched the sidebar.

In the meantime India's Vikram Pillay got the ball from the center half Tirkey just in front of Pakistan's 25-yard area. Pillay raced up to the D but an excellent clearance of Zeeshan did not give India a chance to reduce the margin.

There was purely an Asian style of hockey played between Pakistan and India. Pakistan took the first penalty corner when left-half Waseem was obstructed just ahead of the 25-yard and on the free-hit it succeeded in taking penalty corner which was drilled intol the net by Sohail Abbas to make it 2-0 in the 28th.

India on the counter attack made by Dilip Tirkey along with Sandeep Sindh reduced the margin. Both Dilip Tirkey and Sandeep exchanged the ball to make a combined move as a result this was Dilip, who gave a free long hit to unmarked Deepak Sonkhla who connected it into net to make it 2-1 in the 30th minute.

In the 32nd minute Pakistan scored its third goal through substitute Shabbir Hussain. Kashif strike on the Indian goalpost and Chauhan padded but on the top of the circle Shabbir took the ball and sounded the board with his perfect hit.

Pakistan led 3-1 at half-time. After the resumption Pakistan earned second penalty corner in result of Indian deep defender Vikram Pillay rough tackling and umpire Peter blew the whistle. Sohail once again scooped it into the right corner past Indian substitute goalkeeper D'Souza in the 42nd minute.

India gained its first penalty corner in the 50th minute but Dilip Tirkey hit went wide from the goalpost. Pakistan also used Waseem as utility forward in the second-half, which opened up the way to other forwards - Kashif, Rehan and Mudassar toward Indian danger zone.

In the meantime Sohail missed his hat trick chance on the third penalty corner in the 53rd minute as a result of Indian deep defender Kanwalpreet Sindh's good save but a minute later Kashif connected a corner hit of Rehan to make the tally 5-1.

Pakistan scored its sixth goal after a fine move involving Rehan Butt and Muddassar Ali with skipper Nadeem making no mistake to complete India's misery in the 63rd minute.
