QUETTA, Jan 28: The provincial assembly called on the federal government on Wednesday to continue the projects launched by the National Commission for Human Development in Balochistan and release funds for them.

A resolution adopted by the assembly said the commission had been working on health and education projects in 27 districts of the province.

Minister for Minority Affairs Basant Lal Gulshan who had tabled the resolution said the NCHD provided jobs to 9,024 youths and employed 762 teachers for 19,490 children.

The assembly adopted another resolution which urged the provincial government to declare Jaffarabad, Nasirabad and Jhal Magsi districts as calamity-hit areas.

Mir Zahoor Hussain Khoso, whose adjournment motion was converted into a resolution by Speaker Aslam Bhootani, said that 72 hours of torrential rain had destroyed rice crop in Naseerabad and Jaffarabad.

Speaking on points of order, Zamarak Khan of ANP, Abdul Khaliq Bashardost of JUI-Ideological and Maulana Bari of JUI-F urged the federal and Sindh governments to provide protection to Pakhtoon traders and labourers in Karachi.

Sardar Aslam Bizenjo said that Zarina Marri was in the custody of an intelligence agency which had maltreated her. He said the government must produce her in a court.
