KARACHI, Sept 5: The Karachi duo of Shahzaib Khan and Abdul Ameer shared eight wickets between them to dismiss Faisalabad for a meagre 157 on the opening day of their three-day PCB Inter-region Under-19 cricket championship at the PCB Academy ground here on Friday.

By draw of stumps, Karachi were in a strong position by reaching 84 for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs.

Shahzaib Hasan went after making 43 which included seven fours and one six and Talha Shabbir scored 29.

Leg-spinner Shahzaib Khan grabbed four wickets for 38 runs in 18.2 overs and left-arm pacer Ameer took four wickets for 74 runs in 21 overs.

For Faisalabad, opener Wasif Ahmed scored 43 with five boundaries.

In another three-day match played at the Arbab Niaz cricket stadium in Peshawar, the home team scored 175 for loss of eight wickets against Karachi Whites as the match was stopped after 56.2 overs due to rain.

Off-spinner Junaid Ilyas took three wickets for just 18 runs in his 9.2 overs after Karachi skipper Jahangir Shah won the toss.

Asif Khan played an elegant knock of 58 runs off 87 balls with 10 cracking boundaries and a six.

Mohammad Rizwan made 44 runs off 65 balls with seven boundaries.
