Seven policemen booked

RAWALPINDI, Aug 6: Seven police investigating officers, including the one who has passed away were booked in two separate cases on various charges on Tuesday, police said.

Mohammad Afzal sub-inspector and Usman-ul-Haq constable were booked after a robbery suspect, being investigated by them escaped from their custody under mysterious circumstances.

Police said a robbery suspect Abdul Wahab was taken into custody and was being investigated by SI Afzal. On Tuesday night the sub-inspector along with Usman-ul-Haq constable brought the accused Wahab out of the lock up and took him to the scene of robbery for identification.

But the accused vanished while going towards the scene of crime.Later a case was registered against the SI and his subordinate. The escapee is yet to be traced by the police.

In another case, five police personnel were booked by the RA Bazar police on charges of misappropriating files of some important cases, they had been investigating.

The accused police personnel were identified as ASI Shahid Sabir, SI Shahzad Mehmood, SI Noor Mohammad, SI Mukadar Hussain and SI Muhammad Ilyas.

Meanwhile, four robbers ransacked the house of a trader in the jurisdiction of Banni police and made off with Rs250,000 and 40 tolas of gold jewellery, police said.

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, in a complaint lodged with the police said that four robbers entered his house where repair work was in progress and pulled out their pistols. He said the robbers held his four daughters, his wife and son at gunpoint and also tied arms of two laborers who were working there.

The culprits snatched the cash and gold jewellery and locked the victims in a room and escaped.
