GURJANWALA, May 26: Police on Monday killed a kidnap-cum-murder accused in a `shootout’ on Wazirabad Road.

The accused, identified as Imran, reportedly kidnapped Hamad of Wajiabad a week ago and demanded one million rupees ransom from his family.

He killed Hamad and threw his body in a field after his family failed to pay the ransom. Police said Imran was on his way by a motorcycle along with his accomplice when a patrol party intercepted him. “He opened fire on police and later died in the ensuing crossfire.”
