LAHORE, May 11: Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif says his party is more interested in reinstating deposed judges than the modalities to be adopted for the purpose.

Talking to Dawn from London before leaving for Islamabad on Sunday night, he said the PML-N had reluctantly agreed to retain the ‘PCO judges’ but the PPP wanted to give protection to them at the cost of those who had refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitution Order.

He said there was no difference of opinion between the Pakistan People’s Party and the PML-N on the question of modalities.

“We had found the modalities for the reinstatement of judges. But then came the question of political will.”

He refused to specify the reason for the failure of the London talks.

Mr Sharif said the Murree Declaration had proposed reinstatement of all the judges through a resolution in 30 days. This was the best course because all other methods were time-consuming.—Ashraf Mumtaz
