MIRPURKHAS, May 8: A spokesman of the Pakistan People’s Party Mirpurkhas chapter said on Thursday that his party leadership had taken a serious notice of an attack on the EDO education office by, apparently, workers of a sister organisation of the PPP and an inquiry in this regard had been ordered.

Ali Akbar Panhwar told media that PPP general secretary of Mirpurkhas chapter Anwar Salah Panhwar, Ali Akbar Panhwar and other party leaders had visited the EDO education office and met office-bearers of the union of education department and assured them of inquiry and action against the culprits.

A mob, apparently consisting of armed workers of a sister

organisation of the PPP, attacked the office of Executive District Office of education department Jalil Ahmed Lashari during his absence on Wednesday.

The attackers had ransacked the office and damaged the furniture, record, documents and the national flag.

They also locked several rooms of the office before leaving.

Education department sources claimed that the armed men belonged to the People’s Youth Organisation.

When contacted, Mr Jalil Lashari said that he was not present in his office when it was attacked.

He said that he had informed the district nazim, the district coordination officer and the district police officer of Mirpurkhas about the incident.

He claimed that a group of people wanted to give impression that he was not cooperating with the present government and wanted him transferred from there.

He said that he would take legal action after consultation with authorities.

Fatal jump: The Satellite town police have recovered a corpse of a man from a sewage disposal site situated at the back of Rafsar Town here on Thursday.

Police received information that a man had jumped into the pond on Wednesday afternoon when some angry people were running after him.

Police began search for him in the pond.

On Thursday police fished out a corpse and shifted it to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas for post-mortem.

SHO of Satellite Town Abdul Rasheed Panhwar told media that the deceased was wearing paints and shirt and was about 25 to 30 years of age.

The police sources said that according to witnesses, some people were running after the man and were raising voices of ‘thief’, ‘thief’ before his jumping into the pond.

A resident of Rafsar Town claimed that the deceased was crying for help to save himself.

Police were trying to locate his family.
