MANSEHRA, March 9: The winning candidate from NA-20, Mansehra, Lt-Gen (retired) Salahuddin Tirmizi of PML-N has challenged the order of the Chief Election Commission (CEC) in the Peshawar High Court’s Abbottabad bench regarding re-polling at two polling stations of the constituency on March 13.

Mr Tirmizi, in his writ petition, pleaded that the court stayed the CEC order regarding re-polling at Sathan Galli and Chungari polling stations.

Entertaining the petition, the court summoned Mr Tirmizi’s rival candidate Sardar Shahjahan Yousaf of PML-Q and an official of the CEC to appear before the court on March 11.

It is to be mentioned here that after the 57 vote defeat in the recounting of the rejected votes and postal ballots, Sardar Shahjahan Yousaf had filed a writ petition with the Islamabad High Court against the decision of the assistant election commission of Mansehra. Following which, the court sent the petition to the CEC to decide on the matter, which ordered the re-polling at the two polling stations of the district on March 13. — Correspondent
