Home minister changed in Sindh reshuffle

KARACHI, Sept 22: In a sudden reshuffle in Sindh cabinet on Friday, two ministers and an adviser joined the government and portfolios of three ministers were changed.

The new ministers, Muhammad Hussein and Dr Saghir Ahmed, took the oath of office at a ceremony at the Governor’s House. Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan administered the oath. Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim was present at the ceremony.

According to a notification, Mohammad Hussein and Dr Saghir Ahmed have been assigned the portfolios of local government and kachi abadis and environment and alternate energy respectively.

Syed Waseem Akhtar, who was adviser to the chief minister for local bodies, has replaced Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui as adviser to the chief minister for home affairs.

Mr Siddiqui has been assigned the portfolio of tourism, culture and social welfare.

Senior Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed’s portfolio has been changed for the fourth time in four years. He has now been given the portfolio of health in place of Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani who will now head the ministry of excise and taxation.

Talking to newsmen at the ceremony, Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that more ministers would be inducted into the cabinet.—Online
