Rs850 million for flyover

FAISALABAD, March 21: District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef has said that a flyover will be constructed at the Abdullahpur intersection with an estimated cost of Rs850 million and the affected people of this project will be paid price of their property according to the market rate.

Speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, the district nazim accompanied with officials of the communication and works department and Nespak, said the mega project was a gift for the citizens of Faisalabad as it would be impossible for the people to cross Abdullahpur within the next couple of years.

He said a formal approval of the project had been accorded by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and the Punjab Communication Minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan was taking personal attention in this regard.

He said the construction work on this project would be started soon as the engineers had completed their work. High quality material would be used while the design had been prepared from a top class engineering firm, he said.

The nazim said renowned companies involved in construction and engineering fields had declared the project feasible and important for the city traffic. Faisalabad-Sheikhupura dual carriageway had been completed and it would formally be opened soon.

The Nespak engineers briefed the press about the flyover project through multimedia presentation and highlighted its salient features. They said none of the alternative plan could match the importance of flyover at this busy intersection.

A large number of people of Abdullahpur locality and its adjoining areas were also present in the news briefing.

Robbed: Gangsters took away Rs2.2 million from a local trader on Faisalabad-Sargodha Road here on Tuesday.

Reports said Muhammad Aslam was on his way to factory after withdrawing Rs2.2 million from a local bank when his vehicle was intercepted by robbers on Sargodha Road near the SNGPL office. The dacoits made off with the bag containing the amount at gunpoint.
