HYDERABAD, Dec 16: The Principals’ Association of Hyderabad region has threatened to boycott annual examinations of the Sindh University if transfer orders of the principal and a lecturer, Abdullah Rajar, of the Thatta government college were not withdrawn.

In a joint statement issued on Thursday, senior vice president of the association Prof Mir Abdur Rasool Talpur, vice president Dr Mumtaz Shah Bukhari, joint secretary Prof Mohammad Aslam Rajput, social cultural secretary Prof Barkat Ali Abro and finance secretary Prof Nazeer Hussain Pathan alleged that the two officials along with the association’s senior joint secretary Prof Dost Mohammad Qureshi were transferred at the behest of Thatta district Nazim Shafqat Shah Shirazi and Adviser to the Sindh chief minister Aijaz Shah Shirazi.

The members of the association alleged that the transferred officials had caught four students, belonging to the Shirazi family, red-handed using unfair means during the 2004 examinations and reported the matter to the vice chancellor.

They said that the examinations of 2005 were scheduled to start from December 26 and the students of the Shirazi family were again appearing in the examinations.

They said that Prof Qureshi, a teacher of history, was transferred to the Mirpurkhas Shah Latif science college.

They questioned how an arts teacher could teach in a science college.

They said the transfers had caused unrest among the teachers.

The members of the association demanded from the Sindh chief minister to withdraw the orders.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the association is scheduled today to form a future course of action.
