MQM calls for country-wide strike over activist’s murder

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Thursday announced to observe a country-wide strike on Friday following murder of one of its activists, who they claim was abducted before being murdered in Karachi.
Speaking to a press conference at MQM’s headquarters Nine-Zero in the city’s Azizabad neighbourhood, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui – member of the party’s Rabita (coordination) Committee – said the political worker from Landhi sector was abducted from near the local railway station before being murdered.
He disclosed details of other kidnapped, missing and murdered party activists and announced to observe a ‘peaceful protest day’ across the country on Friday.
Siddiqui feared that other missing party workers might have also been murdered. He urged the judiciary, rights organisations and international community to take notice of the matter.
He declared the murders as extra-judicial killings.
Meanwhile, following the MQM’s ‘appeal’ for strike, the Sindh Traders Union and Private Schools Association have announced to keep businesses and private educational institutions shut in Sindh province.
Examinations under Federal Urdu University, scheduled for tomorrow, have also been postponed.

Oh that's ok... They will suddenly announce just before the strike that in the 'Greater Interest of the Nation' they have withdrawn their call for this strike.. However, they are still the victims, agencies still hate them, Pathans are evil and some external force (most probably in London is what I think) is trying to destabilize Pakistan... MQM the masters of U-Turn... Yaaaawnnnnn...
So what else is on TV?

It's very sad that MQM worker kidnapped and got killed. But caling strike is not good for citizen of Pakistan specially Business people,
working people, big loss for daily bread earner. Also students suffer too.
MQM stop calling strike, talk to the leaders of the country, they can hold meeting with Mr. Nawaz Shariff, I am sure Mr. Nawaz Shariff will take an
action to stop killing.....

When Syyedna Umar Bin Khattab, Usman Bin Affan and Ali Bin Abi Talib (RAA) were martyred was their any Country Wide or even City wide Harhtaal announced by any group of the time? The Frequent Harhtalls, Pahya Jaams, Muharram and Eide Miladun Nabi and all other sorts of anti-people juloos and harhtaals blocking the bread and butter earning movements and emergency transportation of millions of innocent citizens and fellow country men are crimes against humanity. But who cares in a Country where the selfish and incompetent rulers have compromised the well being of their Nation for their vested interest since long ago?

Hartaal or no hartaal, I am yet to hear the interior minister say a few words on the death of the people in Karachi/Hyderabad. Is he not their interior minister as well? This is his fourth day in office and an official statement should be forthcoming by now. The protection of human life and honour is the first and foremost responsibility of the government.
People in Sind have been left to the fate of the same old corrupt and callous parties which brought about the condition we are in now. Does the federal government have no say in it? Is the federal government just the Punjab government? Grow up Lilliputians (PML(N)) since you have the mandate now and Punjab, KPK, Northern Areas, Baluchistan, Sind are looking towards you for directions or else you will alienate them far more than the last corrupt government did.

As sad as it is, I am not sure how does this help the situation?. Closing down schools, businesses, transport all over Sindh because someone has been killed?. What about people who are on daily wages?, How about people who have hospital appointments and can only afford public transport?. I have always been a MQM supporter but this is too often and is causing too much pain. Is it really necessary?. What is MQM trying to prove?

MQM should understand that strikes add to the miseries of poor people. Especially poor people of karachi who are working very hard to make their ends meets are under heavy burden of skyrocketed inflation after recent budget. these strikes cut their wages as business people are also hand in gloves with these types of hunger-go terrorism by MQM.
I strongly recommend that this type of terrorism callers shall be arrested with those who are helping them. Mr. Atique , a karachi business community leader shall also be criminally prosecuted as he always issues statement to co-operate such strikes. All these things are tools of cold blooded mindset of small group of people.

And, the misery continues for the people of Karachi. Instead of having a peaceful protests in front of CM house, they close the whole city. No one in the city wants to participate with their strikes but with the help of their goons on bikes with guns they terrorise shopkeepers, banks, poor stalls people, etc to forcibly close their business. I don't call this people power i call this being terrorised into making it a successful strike.
